Founded in 1973 by Roy Thompson, Pro Arte has a proud 50 year history supplying the highest quality brushes to artists across the UK.
Roy cut his teeth in the brush trade whilst working for Winsor & Newton where he would gain invaluable experience and knowledge on the craft of brush making. This would inspire him to strike out on his own and start Pro Arte. Since then this family lead company has been at the forefront of brush manufacturing techniques and development, whether it's natural hair or synthetic bristles.
Pro Arte’s goal is making brushes for artists of all levels, at the best price with the best service available whilst maintaining a deep commitment to quality assurance and sustainability. By handling every stage of production in house including distribution nationwide, Pro Arte can assure the highest standards for its customers.
To this day Pro Arte still operates out of Yorkshire from a restored and refitted historic woollen spinning mill, and blends the most recent advancements bristle technology with traditional techniques to make their superior range of brushes by hand
