Pozzuoli Red Earth

Pigment: Pr 101 or PBr

During the times of typical 18th century landscape painters, a favourite colour of theirs to use on top of a white primer was Burnt Sienna. Today one can see shades of Sienna occasionally revealed in their landscapes. This “reveal” of a ground colour may be seen in renaissance paintings as well.

Product Information

Michael Harding Non-Absorbent Acrylic Primer provides a strong bond to the layers of paint applied, while ensuring they have just enough tooth so as not to be greasy in feel. As a result, after painting upon non absorbent acrylic primer, oil paint colours look as though as they have just been brushed on to the canvas.

This product may be applied to linen, wood, MDF, and other supports to produce a strong, flexible, permanent, highly pigmented buff ground. Do not apply over rabbit skin/hide glue or to unsound supports such as cardboard and flimsy supports!

How to Use:

Apply 2 coats. First coat can be applied 25% diluted with water to increase flow and coverage if required. Apply second coat once first coat is touch dry (approx. 1 hour).

If areas of the finished work are left revealing primer or unpainted areas, the artist can be assured the primer is lightfast in its own respect and the exposed primer will not fade over time.

All shades are intermixable. All can also have acrylic paint applied if needed.
