Penn’s work has been featured in all the major art magazines, newspapers and the National Portrait Gallery’s own publications and we just adore the humor

This June, we welcome Nanci-France-Vaz. A modern renaissance artist drawing inspiration from the Pre-Raphaelite and Naturalist periods of art, poetry, and classic literature, and film. Combining her strong foundation in life painting with imaginative backgrounds fusing classical with contemporary realism. 

We are delving into the world of celebrity, not to see the latest romance or what 'she' is wearing today but to discover which celebrities are also Artists who have discovered another creative outlet. Our question is, do they have real talent....?

Jenny Steele is a Scottish artist currently based in Manchester, UK whose practice is motivated by 20th century architecture and design producing site-specific artwork, textiles, sculpture, printmaking and events.Jenny explores the cross-over between crafts, architecture, design and fine art wonderfully, producing striking pieces that define spaces.

Jamie Holman is an Artist, writer and lecturer based in his home town of Blackburn. Works from this collection have been exhibited at The Royal College of Art, The Saatchi Gallery Magazine and more recently British Textile Biennial. Our Artist Interview for this purposeful month of September is with Joe Holbrook. Joe offers an insight into his multi discipline practice, a social commentary on youth culture. This young talent moves from London to our home town of Blackpool, where he will open his own studio!

Jarvis Brookfield studied Fine Art at De Montford University and without previous exposure to art, he was heavily inspired to explore painting as a key medium and discovering his process that has developed since graduating taking inspiration from the mysterious nature of the internal world of being human.

We talk to David Mankin, a contemporary Artist based in Cornwall, whose work is a direct response to his environment. David explores texture, colour, shape, sound, movement and spaces, communicating a sense of the freedom, the vastness, the rhythm and the ebb and flow of nature, which is characteristic to his home in Cornwall.

Habib Hajallie is a multi media artist, living and working in Northwest Kent, currently exploring the use of antique texts and maps as the canvases for his works. Habib talks to us about his influences and how his eclectic music tastes influence his mark making.

Lucy Naylor shares with us her inspirations, creative processes and obsession with colour. taking inspiration from Architecture, Lucy works primarily with ceramics and more recently has explored other 3D forms using textile

Valerie Ellis, born in the UK, with many years spent in Australia, Valerie is now residing back in the UK. After spending 20 years as a therapist in Australia, Valerie began rediscovering her artistic talents by teaching herself oil painting and developing the skills to make realistic portraits and figurative paintings.

John is a contemporary artist based in the city of Liverpool, growing up in Kirkby, he was extremely proficient in art and loved it during his time at school, he did not consider making it a career until his road to recovery lead him back to his childhood passion......

Garth Gratrix, a Blackpool based Contemporary queer artist, curator & director who successfully established the only contemporary studio within Lancashire coastline and whose work represents how his choices are influenced by his own queer identity.

Ellie Jakeman is an artist deeply connected to her home town of Blackpool. After studying at Blackpool School of Arts and Manchester Metropolitan University, Ellie became a teacher, developing curriculum across Textiles through to Fine Art.
