The Aquafine range: These inks are thinner and can be used in spray guns and can be used for traditional watercolour effects such as flocculation, blooming, scumbling, lifting and salting. Pigmented watersoluble ink, not dye based so they won’t fade over time. This ink is completely unique to Daler-Rowney. The ink can be used straight out of the bottle with the stopper as a vivid colour or they can be diluted with water for some subtle tones. These aquafine colours match the watercolour tube and pan sets, continuing with the consistency of colours. These inks are not acrylic so are not water resistant, but this means they will act like traditional watercolours and can be lifted off the paper for some excellent textural effects. |
| System 3 range: The system 3 acrylic inks are more opaque. The acrylic inks have all the properties of an acrylic paint but in an ink form. Great for mixed media work, and can go on any surface. Intense, vivid, colours with great coverage. They even come in metallic, and fluorescent colours. They are water resistant when they are dry and you can also dilute them with water to thin them out. The beauty of the system 3 inks is that the colours are consistent across the range. They work really well on hot-press 300gsm watercolour paper.
