Meet the Brand

Who are Liquitex?

Though the company was founded in 1955, Liquitex's origins stretch back to the 1930s, and the colour chemist Henry Levinson's company Permanent Pigments. Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, Levinson avidly followed the advances in acrylic paints field of the early 20th century.

In 1955, he perfected his water-based acrylic gesso, which he christened Liquitex. From there, Liquitex stood on the cutting edge of acrylic innovation, launching their ever-popular Heavy Body Acrylic in 1963.

Liquitex has maintained its reputation as innovators in the acrylic field; in recent years launching their eco-friendly Bio-Based Heavy Acrylic range.
