About

When I was eighteen, I turned down the offer of a place at the famous Glasgow School of Art to study law at the University of Glasgow and eventually became a tutor there in European Union Law. My qualifications are LLB(Hons), Diploma in Legal Practice, LLM, PhD. I was also awarded a Fellowship for European Legal Studies and Research by the Council of Europe.

I had intended to leave academia and go into private practice as a merger and takeover specialist in European Union law and United States business law but gave up the law to become a carer for my parents who had serious health problems. I turned to painting while a carer and eventually became quite well known in Scotland as an artist. Unfortunately, however, my parents health problems worsened which necessitated leaving Scotland and also giving up the commercial side of art though I still continued when possible to paint and to progress my art ideas and technique. Shortly after my parents passed away, I, myself, developed health problems that took some time to overcome. I am now gradually rebuilding my art career.

Hello,You struck me as a lovely person Alan and I just wanted to wish you good luck. I enjoyed looking at your work, you are obviously very talented and I am sure you will do well. I used to teach cookery before I retired, I enjoy art, painting and drawing as a hobby, mainly in watercolour. My lovely husband likes my paintings but then he likes anything that I do. he was a paramedic and did very well in his field. . You are on the right track now after your problems so take care of yourself. It has been nice chatting to you, best wishes, Mary
