About Julie

I’d have to say I’ve been painting almost all my life, as I didn’t stop when I left school. There were many years when I’d only do the odd sketch or painting as ‘real life’ took over, but I always wanted more. Once I’d made the decision to try to realise my childhood ambition of being a ‘Real Artist’ I gave myself up to it as completely as real life would allow. It’s taken a long time, but now I make art part of my daily life.

Even though it’s now ‘the job’, I still get a big kick out of drawing and painting. There’s nothing better that looking at what you’ve achieved and see it looking back at you. Knowing exhibition sales help with animal conservation is another bonus, but it’s equally exciting to get a pet portrait commission from someone My subjects include any animal, wild or domestic, portraits, landscape and still-life I believe art plays a very important role in keeping people healthy, both seeing it and making it.

A lot of my time is spent teaching art, mostly to retired people. As a teaching Artist, I want to share my life-times experience of art with other people so they can enjoy it too. My workshops and classes are growing in popularity and it’s very satisfying, knowing people are choosing to learn from me. I’ve had a book published, I do demonstrations, run weekly classes and weekend workshops’. X Julie
