About

I was born and raised in Lancashire and now live in Yorkshire, but during my life, I have lived all over the world. I am mainly a self-taught artist and have received no formal training, which I feel has given me the ability to create my own unique style of art.

Over the years, I have enjoyed working with both acrylic and oil paints. At the moment, I am currently working with pastel pencils and have been concentrating on animal portraits. I find that this medium allows me to capture the spirit of a beloved pet in my portrait.

My influences usually come from the animals and landscapes around me. I think my “Northern” sense of humour can be seen in my acrylic series of humorous interpretations of the life of a backyard chicken and also in my acrylic series documenting the “Threegulls”; Jimmy, Mary & Barry.

I have exhibited a large selection of my work in the Local Art Yorkshire Exhibition which was held in Scarborough and have also sold my work at a number of exhibitions in Central Scotland. If I can make someone smile with something I have created, I have achieved my goal!
