About

When asked to describe what I do I will say that I am a Painter and Printmaker. In painting I enjoy producing works in many different ways and regularly include the use of acrylics, resins, inks, acrylic paints, chalk pastels, oil pastels, oil paints and mixed media. As a printmaker I love working with lino, collagraphs, monoprints, drypoint etching and screen printing.
I will sometime use a print as a basis to a painting or cut up a print to use in mixed media pieces.

My current series of works are about fish and their habitat as I enjoy producing works from plant life, organic forms and bubbles. The ‘Under the Sea’ series of large pieces are made using acrylic paint, inks and resin and were inspired by the tropical and cold-water fish and plant life we keep in large tanks.

The smaller pieces on paper are reminiscing of Seahorses and the plants and bubbles around them. A variety of different methods are employed to produce these many layered works and it is the fluid methods of production and letting go which are of fascination to me.

I take part in a number of exhibitions each year, Surrey Artists Open Studios, The Contemporary Art Fair, SheepShed Gallery and have an On-Line gallery. My works have been purchased by people living as far away as Australia, South Africa and America as well as much closer to home in Switzerland, Spain, France and of course the UK.

What Alison thinks about ARTdiscount

The best thing is the amazing support and advice I have received when dealing with ARTdiscount. I generally buy liquitex acrylic paint but often slip a few extras in too.
