Artists Canvases world wide shortages
As a result of the Covid 19 Pandemic and a consequent substantial increase in the demand for creative arts products and activities, there is a chronic shortage of stretched canvases.
The great majority of canvases are manufactured overseas and those manufacturers are trying to cope with a huge surge in global demand.
We apologise for our stock restrictions in many of our canvas ranges but assure you of our efforts to bring the stock levels back to normal as soon as possible.
If outside of the UK mainland please call for delivery costs & availability.
Linen, renowned for its’ longevity, has certainly stood the test of time; the V&A museum has a 5,000 year old linen shirt! Linen has also carried many of the 18th Century Old Masters’ paintings through to us today. Linen often displays small ‘slubs’ and fibres of differing thickness when compared to Cotton canvas which adds a natural charm.
Loxley Linen canvases are available in either Titanium White primer or Clear Gesso, the latter gives a wonderfully natural tone as a painting ground.
Both linen ranges are stretched onto sturdy 20mm deep Pinewood bars.
