Like watercolours, gouache can be spread out by using water and a watercolour brush but dry with an opaque chalky matt finish.

What makes gouache special though, is the intensely bright and strong pigments, as well as the quick drying time. The paint can be used on watercolour paper, wooden boards and even canvas. Ideal for beginners.
