World Watercolour Month

Are you taking part in World Watercolour Month this July? It's a fantastic 31 watercolours in 31 days, which has just begun. We love seeing your art, share your paintings with us on social media by using #artdiscountuk and #WorldWatercolorMonth.

World Watercolour Month is a celebration of watercolour and the importance of art and creativity in the world, everyone can take part. The event also aims to provide support via donation to children's charity The Dreaming Zebra Foundation.  

Founded by Charlie O'Shields, the creator of Doodlewash® an American sketching and painting blog. With the encouragement of social media artists are invited to add a splash of colour to their lives by producing a little painting every day throughout July. Pick up a palette or watercolour pencil and go for it.

Compressed charcoal was developed in the 20th century to strengthen the natural structural weakness of Willow and Vine charcoal. To create compressed charcoal or charcoal pencils natural gum or wax binder is added to powdered charcoal. This makes the charcoal stronger to draw with and produce less dust. Many grades of this compressed charcoal can be found in stick forms or in the form of charcoal pencils.
